- Minister for Education
Minister for Education Dan Tehan has congratulated all students on the successful completion of another school year and wished them a safe and enjoyable break.
"More than 320,000 students started their first year of formal education in 2019 and more than 218,000 students graduated from Year 12," Mr Tehan said.
"Students have worked hard throughout the year to develop their skills and knowledge, and now it’s time to enjoy the holiday break.
"A big ‘thank you’ goes to Australia’s 411,000 teachers and school staff who continue to provide a quality education to our students and support their education and development.
"Our Government is providing a record $310.3 billion investment in recurrent funding to all schools from 2018 to 2029, which means more support for our teachers, more assistance for disadvantaged and regional students and better facilities.
"Parents and carers have also played an important role in their child’s education throughout the year and I encourage them to continue to take an active interest over the holiday period."
The Australian Government has developed a range of resources for parents and students, including tips to support learning outside of the classroom, school holiday activities and national comparison tools to help post-secondary school students with future study options.
